Insurance Auto Auctions Receives Prestigious IT Industry Recognition
Insurance Auto Auctions, Inc., a leading provider of automotive salvage and claims processing services in the United States, today announced that it recently received a coveted Laureate from the ComputerWorld Honors Program. Each year the members of the Honors Program nominating committee, made up of Chairmen and CEOs of the world's leading information technology firms, identify "those organizations whose use of information technology has been especially noteworthy for the originality of its conception, the breadth of its vision and the significance of its benefit to society." IAA's nomination was awarded in the category of Finance, Insurance and Real Estate companies for its visionary use of wireless technology. "We are extremely pleased to receive this prestigious nomination," said Tom O'Brien, President and CEO of IAA. "It further validates IAA's strategy of providing our customers with industry-leading technology through our comprehensive bidding platform. Complementing our live, on-site auctions, IAA's online bidding technology allows customers to quickly and easily purchase vehicles from anywhere in the world."
IAA received the Laureate at a ceremony April 3 in San Francisco. The award recognizes IAA's ingenuity in deploying an integrated wireless data and audio network throughout the Company's salvage centers. That same network made it possible for IAA to introduce I-bid LIVE(SM), the Company's live auction Internet bidding platform.
O'Brien added, "Over the past few years we have made significant strides in designing and installing a state-of-the-art IT infrastructure throughout the organization. Going forward, we will continue to leverage this infrastructure to increase bidding functionality and to further streamline our auction and reporting processes."
Laureates' case studies receive a permanent place at the more than 150 libraries, museums and universities worldwide that compose the International Archives. IAA's case study is now a part of that collection, which is available to both scholars and the general public.
Insurance Auto Auctions, Inc., founded in 1982, a leader in automotive total loss and specialty salvage services in the United States, provides insurance companies with cost-effective, turnkey solutions to process and sell total-loss and recovered-theft vehicles. The Company currently has 78 sites across the United States.
